Headlines From The Nation's Press Each week we open the show with some of the most glaring and reoccurring stories chronicling the ugliness surrounding youth sports organized by adults. These headlines clap like thunder across the country signaling a warning to parents, coaches, administrators, and spectators that violence, cheating, and abuse can happen anywhere at any time. My good friend, and frequent guest on the show, Professor Doug Abrams of the College of Law at the University of Missouri, will add you to his daily mailing list of these stories. Simply email Doug and ask him to add your name to the list. The Main(e) Event
My guests will be several local high school athletic directors: Jason Fuller from Lewiston, Kevin Woodhouse from S. Portland, Frank Spencer from Scarborough, Rich Drummond from Portland, Gary Hoyt from Chevrus, and Matt Richards from Southern Maine Community College. We'll be talking about steroids on the high school scene, and what schools and coaches are doing to deter athletes from using them. We'll also discuss a number of issues such as Athletic Contracts to avoid the use of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. This is sure to be an interesting and informative show. The Coaches Corner With Little League Baseball just around the corner, I'll be asking these local athletic directors what advice they can give to youth coaches. Regis' Rant Who knows what I'll rant or rave about this week. The Parent Trap With Little League Baseball just around the corner, my guests and I will talk about what parents should do and not do to "support their kids" in sports.
