Headlines From The Nation's Press

Each week we open the show with some of the most glaring and reoccurring stories chronicling the ugliness surrounding youth sports organized by adults; issues pertaining to our children's health and education. These headlines clap like thunder across the country signaling a warning to parents, coaches, administrators, lawmakers, and community stakeholders that widespread change is imperative.

The Main(e) Event

My guests will be Susan Johnson, a young working mom who still plays competitive soccer and ice hockey; Brea Fortiguerra, a nursing student and coach of the Scarborough H.S. women's hockey team, and still plays hockey with men 2-3 nights a week; several women from the H.S. hockey all-stars. We'll also be joined by Peter Landis, father of twins Hanna and Anna. He's an advocate for women's hockey. Hanna and Anna are two hockey all-stars. Anna will play college hockey next year, and Hanna will play lacrosse.

We'll be talking about playing the sports they love, for life; why they play, what they love about the games they play, and how they fit it into their busy lives.

I'll have some helpful hints for first-time and veteran coaches about what is really important.

Depends on my mood! There's lots to rant about parents' involvement in the games their children play. Just might rant on "giving the games back to the kids."
