The Center for Kids FIRST In Health is a resource for
parents, teachers, school administrators, and other adults who care about
wellness, longevity, and quality of life.
Well-published studies by the U.S. Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and numerous surveys show the number
of overweight children has nearly tripled in the past thirty years. 5.3
million children between the ages of 6 and 17 are overweight and obese.
61% of American adults are overweight and obese.
Millions of our children are inactive and sedentary.
Combined with diets that are high in sugar, fats, and carbohydrates,
inactivity and unhealthy food choices lead directly to weight gain and
serious health problems. Children who are physically inactive and
overweight not only are at risk, but also find it difficult to learn and
develop socially.
The latest scientific research in the areas of
anti-aging and longevity prove what we already know: exercise and a
healthy diet lead to wellness and long life. The Center for Kids FIRST provides programs that create
awareness of health and physical fitness issues that increase the chances
children will choose to be active and healthy.
We offer our programs to schools at no cost because
of strapped budgets. You can participate in the important work of helping
future generations develop healthy lifestyles. Making a gift to Kids
FIRST can help us keep all kids physically active, healthy, and playing
for life.
