Kids First Advocate

“Kids FIRST In Sport, Heath, & Education is dedicated to keeping all kids physically active and involved in sports for life. As adults, we have to keep it fun and remember that the games are for the kids. I'm happy to be a part of this important cause that is working to improve the health of all children."

In his 8th season as a member of the San Francisco Giants, JT earned 6 consecutive Rawlings Gold Glove awards as his league's top defensive first baseman during 1995, '96, '97, '98, '99 and 2000 seasons. With the 1997 award, JT became just the 7th player (9th overall) to win Gold Glove honors at the same position in both leagues (1995 and '96 were in American League)...with the 1998 award, he became just the 5th player (6th overall) to win the award multiple times in each league. With 104 RBI in '97, JT became only the 5th switch hitter to reach the century mark in both leagues.

JT graduated from Los Alamitos (CA) High School, where he lettered in baseball, football and basketball...earned All-League and All-CIF honors in all 3 sports. Jt played three seasons (1987-89) at University of Arizona for Coach Jerry Kindal. As junior, he led the team in hitting (.359) and was named to the All-Pac 10 team. He holds the school record in career putouts (1,651). As a Wildcat, JT played with fellow Major Leaguers Scott Erickson and Trevor Hoffman on the U of A's Pac-10 Championship team in 1989.

Jerry Stitt, who was the hitting coach at Arizona, calls JT the best defensive first baseman in Major League Baseball. Period.

At dinner during Spring Training with Regis and former U of A roommate, Mike Thorell (Kids FIRST Board Chairman), JT autographed this classic picture of himself pulling Dusty Baker's 3-year-old son Darren out harms way during the 2002 World Series. This picture appeared across two pages in Sports Illustrated. It remains our favorite.

JT is the son of Jack Snow, former Notre Dame All-America wide receiver who also played 11 NFL seasons with Los Angeles Rams. They make up the first-ever father-son, NFL-MLB combination. JT is married to Stacie Peters, and they have one son, Shane Michael, who was born on Dec. 16, 1997.
